We are delighted that Heidi Middleton - the 'bide' of internationally acclaimed fashion label sass & bide - has become an ambassador of the awards. A mother of two, and the creative brain behind sass & bide, Heidi has long had an affinity with the work of Barnardos.

“My parents cared for foster children so I discovered early on the abuse many children suffer. It’s a matter that has remained close to my heart.” she says. “I am passionate about helping disadvantaged children and I have the greatest admiration for the work that Barnardos does in caring for abused and neglected children. All children deserve a safe, secure and loving environment to grow up in and that’s what Barnardos provides.” With sass & bide, which began at a market stall in London, Heidi has enjoyed international success – showing at both London and New York fashion weeks. Their designs are now sold in over twenty countries and there are sass & bide boutiques across Australia, and in New Zealand. However Heidi says that being a mother to her two daughters, India, five, and Elke, three, is her proudest achievement. “Just being with my girls is so enriching and amazing and I want to be around them as much as I can,” she says. “Being a mum is also my toughest job and I am honoured to be an ambassador for the Barnardos Australia’s Mother of the Year Awards and to support Barnardos in recognising the wonderful work that mums all around Australia do.” “We are delighted Heidi has accepted our invitation to join the awards as an ambassador,” says Bill Petch, Barnardos Australia’s marketing manager. “Her passion and commitment to assisting disadvantaged children, her dedication and love for her own family and her personal experiences with foster children make her a tremendous asset to the awards and to Barnardos.” |
