Meet the 2011 state and territory finalists

Released 29 March 2011

Choosing our finalists from thousands of inspiring entries from around the country is never an easy task, but our judges rose to the challenge. After deliberating for hours they chose three women from each state and territory to represent their state at a morning tea ceremony where the state winner will be announced.

This year we received thousands of nominations on behalf of truly remarkable mums from around the country. All these women deserve recognition for the contribution they are making to their families and their communities. However, the judges could choose just three for each state and territory and after much deliberation the women selected stood out as having gone the extra mile to give future generations the best chance in life . These women, their nominators and their families will attend a function in their capital city where the state or territory winner will be presented with an award. Those eight inspiring women will go on to become national finalists and will all attend a gala dinner in Sydney on 5 May 2011 where the overall Barnardos Australia Mother of the Year will be announced.
